So it's a year after we put the new roof on the 'fudge room' that we decided that we would convert this over to a pseudo work area / laundry room / kitty litter box room. So, Tony and I took a look at the walls. We figured that we'd tear out the inner drywall so that we could run new electrical wires to get power to this room.
That's when we discovered the water damage (sense a common theme here?) that had happened to the two walls that butt up against the main part of the house. So our project now was to rebuild the four walls of this room. Looking back on this, it looks like we went backwards in renovating this room (fix roof first, then rebuild walls), but I guess it is all part of the learning experience ...
As of August 2003, we have :
- Replaced the flat metal corrugated roof with a peaked asphalt shingle roof (2001)
- Rebuilt the north and 1/2 of the west walls (2002)
2003 Renovation (lots done due to Tony's dad, brother, and several of his friends - thanks a lot, guys!)
- Rebuilt the south and the rest of the west wall
- Ripped off the semi-clear corrugated roofing material and replaced it with two stationary and two opening skylights
- Removed old wooden double doors from west wall and replaced with french steel doors on south wall
